Ekornes establishes subsidiary in Australia
As part of its focus on new markets Ekornes has established a subsidiary in Sydney, Australia.
Since 1988 Ekornes has sold Stressless recliners and reclining sofas in Australia through an importer, and agreement with the importer has been reached regarding the transition phase. In 2008 Ekornes generated sales in Australia worth some NOK 16 million.
By establishing a separate subsidiary the company would gain better control of marketing and distribution in an interesting market. Ekornes believes there is potential for further growth in sales of Stressless recliners and reclining sofa in Australia through the implementation of the market concept that Ekornes work to in Europe and the USA.
